After going on hiatus, I'm ready to get back onto things.

Carmen and Jeanne will come out... I'm thinking about just finishing the assets and showing it to yall, because getting it to actually fit in that flash file is ridiculous at this point. Ridiculous because of a myriad of technical issues regarding the flash, the amount of text lines to put in coupled with the Andrograde upgrades, everything basically doesn't fit, and it's a miracle I got it to fit in last time. Is there any new gameplay? Well I suppose if you feel like playing through Carmen and Jeanne again, and Catherine adds some challenges to the game like getting a lot of money. Voices...well... I'll put in what I have.

Hentaicook at Anime Expo 2011

I'm going to Anime Expo 2011 to advertise Aching Dreams 2. I was thinking about putting out an Aching Dreams 2 offline cd that people could physically purchase, but as I'm satisfied with how online sales are going, I honestly can't afford to put it out on a disc. It was a mistake to offer it in the first place. I apologize and I'll make it clear: Aching Dreams and its sequels will only be sold on a digital format.

So Anime Expo is in Los Angeles, California. It's a business trip. Kinda. I'll be promoting AD2 by handing out flyers and at the same time selling art prints of popular characters (not AD), like this picture of Lightning from Final Fantasy XIII. I'll be in the Artist Alley, where it's a bunch of people that sell art prints, or stupid cute things like stickers or anime pins. I'll be drawing up about 10 different art pieces to sell, they go for about $5 paper size, 10$ for small poster size. I'll try not to make them too embarrassing because I do have to run to office depot to print these out. As much as everyone here loves Taiyo, do any of you really want to hang her up on your wall? It's a real question, respond please.

But while making zombie butt kicking drawings is really fun, the main reason I'm there is to promote AD2S by passing out flyers. I'm testing the waters, and really wondering if anime conventions are a good place to find customers for this game.

So it's about a month's diversion until I get back on track with finishing up on AD2S and AD3. I know right now's a lot of bitching, "Where's the update!?", but I don't want to rush things. I'd rather take my time and release something that we're all happy with. Everyone was pretty happy with SanzaXFrei, so I'm hoping to get a similar result with Catherine+CarmenXJeanne. Anyone coming to Anime Expo?

Here's Isabel for Aching Dreams 3. She's your executive officer, or "XO". So you'll be the Captain and she's your right hand woman. Oh the things I dream of!

So while you can't order her to perform hand to gland combat on you, she'll be executing your orders, such as carrying out the schedule you have for your crew, keeping up to date information (and inserting her own opinion) on crew members by writing up dossiers, and maybe, just maybe you could order her to change into a different "combat" outfit.

She also has the biggest breasts in the game, I cup. At this time she is not a main character. Speaking of boobs, here's the listing of breast sizes for the cast of 11 characters.
ABCCDEEFGHI. There's a lot of other things to cover other than breasts (like what's going on in the game). I'll be going over a lot of that over the coming months, and I'm glad that I'm able to work again. Here's to new beginnings (AD3), and soon enough a good farewell (ad2).

Frei and Sanza will be released next next week, around the 30th, but please don't mark your calendars, it gives me a heart attack.

FreiXSanza will be extra long consisting of 6 unique scenes, but not all animated, so that's why it needs some extra time in the oven. BadgerMushroom created the story and won the story writing contest for it.

While I'm being held back on AD2S DLC, John Evans has already started on some prelim programming work for AD3. He'll have a blog some time up showing bi-weekly progress, and I'll chime in on some stuff too. Look forward to those thingers.

Getting back on track here, the first update to come next week will be Teresa. I want to get stuff out weekly. Yeah, there's some big cons to weekly releases like more tech support I'd have to do but oh well, it's better to keep a weekly commitment. Since my drawing tablet is broken, I'm just drawing stuff for now; I'll get to finished updates starting next week while I wait for a new one to ship to me.

It's Frei and Gwen, but I've decided to change Gwen to Sanza, because Sanza was more popular. Sanza is practically the same character anyway, haha. The top 5 chars are all in the extras then (Teresa, Frei, Carmen, Taiyo, Svetlana, in no order). BM wrote a shitload of scenes when I said I'd either do a twosome or a threesome, but he decided to do a twosome, twosome, threesome (all with two scenes each, rounding it out to 6 scenes). I'm going to cut most of it out.

AD2S will get voice acting support, but surveys indicate that people don't care for the voice acting as much as actual content, so that voice acting will have to wait. AD2S will be ported to different websites other than hentaicook.com, but it won't be coming to offline in the immediate future, as there's simply too many pirates waiting for it. On the survey, it turns out most of the people that said "I would pirate it if I could", also said "I would like an offline version" (sneaky sneaky). An offline version would be much easier to pirate, since all you'd have to do is upload the game to any site. So I had to make the decision, either give the few real customers their offline game and lose most of my sales due to piracy, or go back on my word and not give anybody the offline version.

AD2S was pretty much a one man show, and to stay in business I've had to make the tough decision to not offer an offline version. If the game was heavily pirated, I might not even keep up and be able to make a third game, so there you have it.

So after all that content is done, I'll be done with AD2S. I'll focus on my art studies for a bit and try to get the characters to look more different next time around: more skin color variation, different body types, and different face types. After that, Me and John Evans (from AD1) are going to team up and work on AD3, The Dark Planet. Here's what we can say about TDP for now:

- You play as the captain of a space station overrun by aliens.
- Defend! They attack during the night. Team up with girls and don't let the aliens through!
- Don't Die! Build your defenses, scavenge for supplies, and heal the wounded during the day.
- Date! The dating sim mechanics from AD2S return. Date 5 new characters with complete storylines.

1. Fix the minor bugs. I think we've got one freeze in the game, and Jeanne's hentai movie isn't showing in the correct order.

2. Work on additional content.

3. Slim down the game's size. The game is currently 30 megs. I need to slim it down to ten megabytes if I want to be able to put it on any portal sites. If I get them on portal sites, then I don't have to rely on people finding hentaicook.com to play my game.

4. Learn how to code properly. All the code you see in the game is stuff I just learned as I went.... I think the game is a trainwreck in terms of coding. I can make it better, as well as learn how to make the next game with much more gameplay.

So I've managed to find a good solution for the fast clicking bug. This also means that spacebar support will be in the game!! Spacebar support was taken out because it's basically extremely fast clicking.

So that's Ileana animation fixed, Jeanne's last mission eased up, Preloading movies is slightly different so that you won't have to wait (most of the time), and fast clicking is succeeded by spacebar. Also, you may now skip hentai animations. If they don't load, just click next, and it'll stop trying to load it.

Super big fix later today. Possibly.

Alright dreamers, settle down. The bugs are thinning out now, and while I am still trying to take care of a few bugs, I can finally slow down and work at a more reasonable pace, as well as start creating content as well.

It's time for my speech.

Aching Dreams 1 was a victory, but a small one. I was very happy at the time just being the artist, and I appreciate that people liked the art, but it was just a small glimpse into what the world of Serenia would be.

Yesterday, I was at my worst condition. No sleep. Back aches from horrible posture. I was starving, restless and extremely stressed out from bugs... but I had never been more happy in my life. I was finally able to fulfill my Aching Dream. To be able to create an excellent experience in the exact vision that I had imagined...to be a Creator... is immensely gratifying.

The advice I'd like to impart to you dreamers is to start chasing your dreams. It doesn't matter if the people around you don't accept what you do. No more "Why". Just get out there, do what you do, and one day you'll be smiling the same way I am now.

Currently the game calls movies on demand....I'm switching the game so that it loads it all at once while you're playing.

This should pretty much fix the problem of black screen and having to wait for scenes, it might even fix a few problems with it.

Gentry's point counter was... not resetting at the start of Beatrice 2.

Fixes: All scenes are now *finally* accounted for by the hentai scene remover. I introduced the new code earlier today to get it to crash less, but in the end it only made it crash more, heh. Now that I have it working the way I want it to, we should have a lot less problems with h-scenes...

Also, I *believe* that refreshing your game will lose your saves because of different versions of the game, the game will install it's saves to your harddrive, but under different game name instances... anyway, this problem is now "fixed" as well, on my side by simply saving it as the same file name.... (so instead of v3 and v4, I name them all v1 so the saves don't change)

Lastly, the game will save more frequently now, which was a big problem on why the h-scenes weren't showing up.

I apologize for the inconveniences this has caused, but I'm working on everything as fast as I can, and should root out most of the baddies by some time today. Then I'll be able to sleep, thanks to those of you who are looking out for my well being.

For the last three hours, I've been running some pretty stressful bugtests since I'm ahead of schedule on the art department.

Yeah, there's some nasty bugs that I didn't expect... The dilithium chambers of the flash timeline had overloaded, as I had not expected a frame limit on the timeline wavelength to be reached so soon. With the combination of all the frames used, the mass spectrometer had detected an anomaly breach and technical errors at 5000 frames. This was all because we were journeying into a place where no man had gone before, flash games were not meant to be over 10 megabytes large, as they were designed for the internet subspace frequency. To solve this problem of capacity, the transporters switches out swf files and mp3 files externally, but the massive influx of dialogue is still causing unexpected problems on the timeline wavelength...

It's my means of coping with stress.

So I read an interesting article about how this guy made money for his flash game through sponsorship deals. 35,000 dollars for his game, but I'll have to add that his game is a huge hit.

For it to work though, I'd have to satisfy the main portal(flash game collection site) condition, no porn. If I was going to make a completely new game, the absence of porn makes it quite the challenge (I can imagine The Dark Planet being pretty good without porn, but these are wishwashy ideas), and while I think my games are good, without porn means that I have to make up for it with excellent programming, something I'm not prepared for.

The other option is to sell sponsorship of AD2SClean. Hentai-less Aching Dreams has to have a full campaign with no sex stories in it. Some of these stories have a lot of sex in them, but basically I'd "neuter" the game.

Think about Carmen 1. You get to have sex with Sarah, but in Clean, you don't get the option. You can take a peek at the shower scene, but they're all wearing bathing suits. I am not sure, but I think a quick boob flash at the end for every character might actually be OK with these sponsors.

The two real options I'm looking at here is either to give away Jeanne's story as AD2S(sexy) for free, as basically an advertisement for the real, paid game, or to consider a sponsorship deal with AD2SClean, and possibly make money that way.

A game developer must wear many hats, business is one of them.
