AD3 Public Beta and Walkthrough
Please watch the tutorial before playing the game. It is not advised that you play the beta if these types of strategy games are not already your cup of tea, because story is being withheld from beta until final release.
And here's the beta link.

It's known to work best with google chrome; there are a few issues regarding things flying outside of the window frame in firefox. It's kind of amusing but uhhh should be fixed, eheh

"... Ill stop pressing 6 and end the video THANK YOU ! " :D
ReplyDeleteCongrats on getting this far with the project!
ReplyDeleteAre there any tits in the demo?
ReplyDeleteNo, and there's no prepared food in the demo either, so hentaicook is just a big fat liar
DeleteI'll pass on the demo then. Let us know when there are some tits to be found.

ReplyDeleteSome Feedback of a playtest:
ReplyDeleteI wasn't online since early may, so some of this might have already been addressed by you. In that case I'm sorry for the repetition.
Loading after character Creation took... a long time, and the loading bar didn't move until 70%. Nothing worrysome.
Game worked splendid, without any obvious bugs or inconsistencies (On Opera 12.17!).
It'd be nice if, on the assignment screen, the best non-combat stat of each girl was shown on the right.
Alternatively, move the pop-up stats-window over so you can set assignments while seeing these stats, it's currently a bit tedious.
You might also put in an option to show the numbers on the hp/sp/mp bars, thus removing the need to show them extra in the stats while in the assignment view.
Another option would be to map the stats window to the same height as the assignments window, thus reducing the search needed at start, Especially when you haven't memorized the names yet, which was a bit of a problem for me at first.
Showing a picture in assignments is obviously also an option.
Regarding combat, it worked smooth and without any visible hickups. Would it be possible to always show the weapon stats upon selecting a girl, if the player isn't hovering over one of the action options?
The only way to "re-show" it is to de- and reselect the girl or switch weapons.
It'd also be neat to show a preferred weapon (highest skill) when picking equipment for the girls, or just have them default to what they are best at, if available.
The Info in combat is rather unreadable due to colour.
And last but not least, could the girl selected by portrait be highlighted on the battlefield?
If any of this sounds overly negative, it is not meant to be.
I'm thrilled to see this progress, and it's looking good for the state of development it's likely in to my info.
Good luck with the remaining Development.
Thank you for your feedback! :D
DeleteFor anyone else testing this, I encourage you to post any feedback to improve this game!
We strive to make this game comfortable for all possible gamers when this is released!
Oh and also, I think with this suggestion:
DeleteAnd last but not least, could the girl selected by portrait be highlighted on the battlefield?
I believe that was implemented through the glow filter on the girls on the battlefield. Unless that's not showing up on your browser. I may have to check that on Opera.
Damn it took me a year to find the option to put a name on posts. Should have done that already back with the AR discussion.
DeleteBtt:
It's of note I use an old version of Opera with the Presto Engine for the very good favourites Browser it has.
I tested it again, and on proper zoom settings, it worked, aka there was glow.
I also tried it in Opera 30.0 beta, and of note was that it loads 3x as fast.
Webkit definitely is ahead in performance, though framing might be an issue: There were what I assume to be statuseffects, and they lasted for less than a second. I had no idea what was going on. Somthing about jam?
@feedback in general: Well, I did work as a Game Designer for a few years, so I know the choice between content and polish well enough. It's just that at the same time, outside people tend to flood you with "X doesn't work" comments, and at some point they wear you down. ^^
No, we don't take it negatively. It's mostly due to either because we want the engine to run more smoothly or we're focusing efforts in different areas of the game. Generally speaking, all of the issues you raise are things we are aware of and we rate them by how important they are to address.
ReplyDeleteThat may make it sound like we're half-assing the game, but it's not, you can tell by the vid that there's obviously a lot of thought, love, and care that we put into it. But at the same time, instead of fixing a minor problem, why not put more features in, like why not add 10 powers to each character and let the player decide which one he wants to use, instead of making this one text slightly more readable?
So there's features, functionality, and bugs, and we tackle them in the priority that we think would lead to the most enjoyable game we can produce with our given resources.
Thank you for your feedback.
How do I play it? The link only directs me to a page that tells me how to buy AD3.
ReplyDeletehow do i access the beta? i used the link and was directed to a site to purchase the game but can not play the beta. some help please
ReplyDeleteStop freaking out and use your head for a second:
Deletehttp://www.hentaicook.com/ad3.swf
I actually had the same problem, swf wouldn't load.
Luckily you can view the resources on a page, which gave me this url.
II think the problem is caused by javascript being disabled on your browser. I had the same problem on one of my laptops for firefox.
ReplyDeleteThis is another reason why we recommend google chrome, though we do regret that not all computers can work on firefox.
Don't have a whole lot to say, really. I found the current beta to be lackluster, in the sense that there's not a whole lot of reason to keep me playing. The combat is challenging at times, and I know that's what you were going for, but without any reward to back it up (yet), it feels boring. The only out-of-combat area provides a feeling of restriction.
ReplyDeleteIf it were myself creating this game, I would make more areas (like the other Aching Dreams games), giving me a sense of freedom and exploration. I would maybe incorporate a rewards system, and obviously, with more game content, it would feel less boring.
Yeah, I figured we would get this sort of response so I warned people not to play it unless they had a penchant for this type of gameplay.
DeleteImagine if we held a beta for AD2, except there were no story scenes. It's just the "battle" part. The beta would be sorta pointless because the combat in that game is just one attack a day.
AD3 is primarily a dating sim. You've been beta testing a dating sim with absolutely no dating sim elements. A date-less beta for AD2 wouldn't work, but a date-less beta for AD3 absolutely does, because there was a lot of thought put into the combat.
As for your suggestion of freedom + exploration, AD3 is meant to be played in multiple runs, so a game where you got to explore my shittily drawn backgrounds would get boring quick compared to the turn based strategy combat in ad3. The combat in this game needs to be able to stand on its own, but the rewards in the game are meant to be the dating sim elements.
Your backgrounds are actually pretty good and moody, like ive stated a few months ago. So 80's for me
DeleteLooks pretty good to me! Steve, Wales.
ReplyDeleteHeya I know this might be a bit premature, given that you've only just begun beta testing, but do you have an ETA on when the game might be done yet? Would it likely be release sometime this year or is it more likely to be 2016? Thanks! Steve from Wales
ReplyDeleteGiving an ETA requires me to make a promise that we have to endeavor to commit to. It's pretty fucking stressful to do those. We've already stated an October release and we will not move it around unless we know it will fail.
DeleteAhh ok. Well hope everything is cool and stuff progresses smoothly then, thanks.
Deletei have some questions about the combat of the game. specifically, how hard is (-10) difficulty intended to be? i have been playing the beta to get used to the controls and i have gotten pretty good at managing the combat (atleast up to day 30 or so) so i decided to try a more aggressive/careless run. i restarted and on this run through and i didn't take weapon stats into account and i defaulted to using whichever characters had the most stamina. after about day 13 i was at the end of the ropes so i retreated to -7 and lower areas to try and rebuild my group to working condition and also started using character combos with preferred weapons to ease the bleeding. i thought i would be able to stabilize because i was now playing the game the "right way" so to speak but i started combat in what was suppose to be a (-10) area and there were two mick moose bots, three stegosaurus 1 of those god hand things and about 3 or four zombies. I got through it decently(at least in my experience) and just brushed it off as one of those one in one hundred instances but two nights later in another (-10) area i faced a similar set up to the one i just described. So i was just wondering if this is the intended difficulty of (-10) areas. Also to elaborate i am not saying that this combination of enemies is to hard to handle or that any of the characters need to be nerfed/buffed. I was still able to get through it with my bandaged up group of misfits. i am just curious if this is what (-10) is suppose to be and i am also aware that because i recklessly threw survivors out there without planning my attack i set myself up to be at an even bigger disadvantage than i should have been and if i had played properly from the beginning it would not have mattered. I am only curious as to whether or not this is how it is meant to be when the combat is set to (-10).
ReplyDeleteLastly, i just wanted to say that after this attempt i strongly advise planning your attack every day and pairing up survivors with good combos. my reckless run ended on day 20 or 21 with too many of my crew members incapacitated to continue and jungl3 curri told me the game was over xD.
that's all folks, i look forward to the games full release!
Any area on the map applies a plus or minus *modifier* to the current difficulty.
ReplyDeleteThe actual difficulty is simply the amount of days you survived.
If you're in slums on day 30, the least you could hope for was -20 difficulty. For clarity's sake, there are negative values of difficulty in case you went to an easy area on day 1.
As for the enemies, they're supposed to be slightly harder. There's a small bug that's affecting how many enemies that are coming out. Congrats on getting to 30 tho. How much time did you put into it?
Thanks for playing.
i played for 2 to 3 days only getting to day 12 0r 13 then i would restart cus i thought i could do better. then when i thought i had the combat down pretty well i started trying to see how far i could get. i always ended up quitting and restarting though but i would say i spent 10-15 hours playing the game before i started getting past day 20. since the full game is not out i just start a new game every time i play so i don't actually know how far i would get if i kept with a single save but i doubt i would get much further than 30
DeleteAlso thanks for replying :)
DeleteSo quiet now...
ReplyDeletePretty good huh? Ain't nothing to complain about. (nods head)...
DeleteIt's pretty funny because when the game does come out, I'm sure we'll have no shortage of people complaining about how batshit hard this game is, but the game's beta has been out for a long time for those players to preview.
How difficult will it be for those of us that chose the upper tier on the Kickstarter for survivors that are stronger?
DeleteProbably not at all.
DeleteGoes from hard to point-and-click-to-the-good-stuff, huh? Lol.
ReplyDeleteI mean we haven't implemented it yet, but it's pretty much just a stat armor buff. So the player might be like "oh no, I don't have any ammo, my barricades are gone, and I have no stamina for powers...oh well, just use infinite pistol ammo"...
DeleteMakes me wonder about the tedium of shooting these enemies that wouldn't really be able to hurt you back easily. Would the player want a button to just skip battles at that point, or maybe they want it to be not too easy so that, it's like Final Fantasy levels of easy...
I'm not a huge fan of FF, but I really like the way they establish a connection from the characters to the player. There's... family guy and simpsons hentai (cartoon porn?) out there. I'm pretty sure people only fap to that because they're familiar with the characters. FF/other jap rpgs do the same by simply making you stare at these characters fight for hours and hours of random encounters. AD3 follows the same formula by having the characters directly in your face. It's like Come Play my Lord, except you're actually playing alongside that chick that says it, instead of some random rpg. lol
Anyway, the question is whether "Ultimate Survivor Kit" should either let you entirely skip the combat phase, or make it easy to the point where it's almost tedious. (shrug) I can see it going both ways.
Survival kit?! I don't think I pledged enough to get that! FUUUUUUUUUUUUU
DeleteI would go with the "Power Overwhelming" from Starcraft. Turn that on and the weapons hit harder while taking little damage. Much better than just a skip button.
ReplyDeleteI was wondering if there will be any bonus for completing the game kinda like how the first aching dreams every ending gave you a code that affected the game. so like if you be AD3 5 times you would get a buff that gave you more health or ammo. Something that makes multiple runs feel less redundant. Obviously the main reward for beating the game is the titties (which is plenty enough) i was just curious if you had thought about this. Also is there going to be a gallery like in AD2 where you can view all of the endings/scenes that you have already unlocked? just some questions that popped up while i was playing the beta so i thought i would ask. :)
ReplyDeleteAD3 Rewards System will behave exactly like AD2. We are considering putting up other rewards similar to AD1.
DeleteI disagree with your notion that the lack of cheats would the make game more redundant. IMO, The game shouldn't give you cheats after you beat the game. Case in point, Resident Evil 4. Beating the game under various circumstances allowed you to unlock uber weapons... but why would the player want to play again using these weapons if the game's only going to be much easier? Not only is his character more powerful, but the player's skill level has risen as well. I would have rather seen these powerful guns in the main campaign where players are more likely to have any time with them.
DeleteAs for AD3, we do have something like cheats in the works, later down the road (search my blog for threesome rings). It gives you a major stat boost, but it's not really like a cheat because the game gets much harder when you are using it.
"Also is there going to be a gallery like in AD2 where you can view all of the endings/scenes that you have already unlocked?"
Yes, you can see it in the beta, but its functionality is currently disabled.
