Hi, I've launched a new offbeatr campaign. If you were looking to preorder, you can vote on the project for now, and then place money down on a pledge when the project passes the voting stage, thanks.

How do the rewards apply if the donor already used the Kickstarter?
ReplyDeleteThey're basically the same rewards. If you want two of the same reward, then be my guest.
ReplyDeleteYou've got my vote sir! Artists like you deserve what support they can get, and you're making something that is truly worthy of my money.
ReplyDeleteIf I had the money I'd pledge $400 again, I'll see what I can throw in ;)
ReplyDeleteDammit ppl vote already I want that damn handshake
ReplyDeleteI want to comment on this, but I don't think I should...
DeleteI'll just say
lol
Crap now I gotta know
DeleteWell I missed the kickstarter, so...you have my vote sir ^^
ReplyDeleteHowever, I'm a little confused: the pledge says that you need to go for 50$ in order to see your survivors in bikinis, however the trailer clearly gives you the opportunity to fetch said bikinis; was that mission option not part of the base game then?
All players that buy the game will have access to the in-story bikini scene.
DeleteOnly players with the bikini mode will be able to toggle them on and off at will during regular conversations, and there you will be able to see bikinis in combat, post release.
The project now has enough votes !!!
ReplyDeleteWebsite does not have paypal, so i cant send you money =(.

DeleteI've removed this comment, and I believe it to be the only comment I've had to remove. There are a ton of comments on this blog, I encourage free speech, and I'm definitely willing to be criticized or even insulted to a certain degree, but this topic is off limits.
DeleteAnd if you're so curious, you can just ask me what the topic was about.
Deleteby email.
DeleteI have the same problem as the original poster. I was all set up and raring to go on Paypal ever since I heard. Set up my account on Offbeatr, then I find out about the limited options to pay with. It's unfortunate you don't have much control over this, as I imagine a good chunk of those who would donate could only do so through Paypal.
DeleteI suppose a prepaid card would have to do, in that case...
Some blogs have a "Tip Jar" that uses PayPal. Now I don't know how this is done, but could this be an option for revenue? Seems for some people the no PayPal is a deal breaker.
Delete=( Well it ends in January 22 so I still have time to pledge even when it doesn't have the pay option I want.
DeletePledged!! Gogogogo!!!
ReplyDeleteI'm just asking this but do you know about Patreon? And if you do, do you think you will give it a try?
ReplyDeleteThere are two big reasons I won't put the game on Patreon:
Delete1) Their business model is incompatible with mine. Patreon has the customer billed every month to support an artist that ideally puts up art about a few times a month. Meanwhile, at HC HQ, after seven years I've only got three games, so I'm not sure what to give the customer every month. I *could* change my business model by making smaller games every month, but then they really wouldn't be big ambitious AD games anymore.
2) Their policy on adult content means that my content won't be indexed in their search. Offbeatr is an additional marketplace, so even if Offbeatr takes a cut of my profit, it's okay because they grant me a customer that would have never heard of me otherwise. If I host my game on Patreon, Patreon takes a cut and does not give me anything in return. That's because of their policy: Adult content isn't indexed in their search, so the only way to find my supposed patreon would be by googling "hentaicook patreon", and if you found me through google, you could sure as hell find me through hentaicook.com and forgo the whole middleman patreon tax.
The only point I could concede is that it may be possible that the consumer prefers Patreon's business model and wishes hentaicook games would adapt to it as well, but I'd sooner rather put a plain donation button on my website... and seeing as we're a 'for-profit' business (actual good samaritan intentions aside), that's not happening anytime soon either.
Here's my business prediction for the hentai marketplace: Hentai artists on Patreon will wisen up to the fact that Patreon is not really offering them anything other than a reputable place to perform transactions. Offbeatr may have exorbitant fees for adult content, but the fees are not much worse than Patreon. I think we'll begin to see a lot more hentai artists selling their stuff on Offbeatr, but that's dependent on whether or not Offbeatr can manage their own website better. I mean, I'm one to talk with the shitty personal geocities website over here, but I suspect Offbeatr is making a killing on profits; they owe it to themselves to invest in more hired hands and really give their website more polish. If they offered a similar business model to Patreon, what could Patreon possibly do besides reverse their adult content policy? Patreon doesn't want to become the next Kickstarter or Offbeatr... they just want to be "Patreon, the great marketplace for artists", so Patreon is probably willing to allow Offbeatr to dominate the hentai marketplace. Patreon's recent policy that shifts their website away from adult content further solidifies my prediction.
To all hentai artists on Patreon: Don't start your business in what's soon to be a ghost town. That, or be sketchy as fuck and avoid using pornographic keywords in your patreon page... Although if you already have one going, it's probably fine to stay there.
That's all well and good HC but I gotta know how will I receive my handshake?
DeleteHey Hentaicook are you using any other sites to spread your work of your project. There definitely a market that you can tap as couple of projects on offbeatr manage to get some major funds for their games. I really do hope you get more than your asking for.
ReplyDeleteCongrats! It's met it's goal of $2,000!
ReplyDeleteWhoooo!
DeleteYayayayayayayayayay!
DeleteI hope getting more money into the project means can help speed up the release date
ReplyDeleteThis may be a stupid / often answered already question, but will that content (not including unique backer rewards, of course) be available at a later time? In my country, credit cards aren't as common (we use a form of direct debit), and as I get a free one due to my current occupation, I was hoping to actually put it to use for something, but, thanks bureaucracy, I'll only recieve it end of January + shipping, so no such luck.
ReplyDeleteI'd have picked the 25$ otherwise. -.-
All of the rewards are purchasable after the game has been released, with the exception of the poster and 400/500$ rewards. The prices of those rewards after the game has been released is subject to change.
DeleteThere will be more payment options than what offbeatr has available, but I cannot comment as to what those specific options will be. It will use Andrograde though, which should be improved for AD3 in particular.
Dude, Andrograde was MISERABLE for AD2. Please please please consider an alternative.
DeleteI think the higher tier pay amount for the game could have some better rewards to them. Maybe more physical content and unique skins for the characters.
ReplyDeleteWhen is this game coming out? We haven't had an update or even an actual release date. Is the January release date on your main page genuine? How close are you? We need an update.
ReplyDeleteThe January release date is not accurate, as we're still working on the game and will need a couple more months. We're pretty much just coding at this point.
DeleteCouple of more months? Man I was really looking forward the 22 said date...
DeleteHaha you keep putting your estimates around the same time as the GTA V PC release dates. As long as it's a quality product I won't mind waiting
DeleteThis going to be great when it's finished. Very excited to see the final product, and also am very pleased to hear that you'll be adding more characters through DLC. It would be nice to get an update now that your offbeatr campaign is finished!
ReplyDeleteHe's taken the money and run.
DeleteNo. I'm passionate about the game.
DeleteDon't worry Cook real fans know that
DeleteHey man, ignore the haters. A post-campaign update would be nice though :)
DeleteHaters? The game's literally over a year late, deadline keeps getting postponed again and again, there hasn't been a single update in nearly two months, dev hasn't replied to my enquiries about what's going on etc.
DeleteAs I backer I believe I'm entitled to more open development process. All I'm asking for is perhaps a biweekly status update, so barely any work at all.
I wholeheartedly agree. The extreme lack of updates is crazy. We have a right to know whats going on. You say your passionate, so tell us then. Tell us all the amazing things your doing. Don't keep it all quiet and to yourself. If you want this game to be a success and to make you lots of money then you need the community. It will be down to us to spread the word and buy your game. If you cant be arsed to respect and involve us (especially after a successful kick starter) then you will lose your fan base.
DeleteI used to check every day for updates, obviously they got more and more sparse and so my interest has waned in all honesty.
Im still keen to see the finished product but its well over due.
You think this guy has trouble with deadlines? You should go and check out the megatokyo visual novel, that crap will not get done till the next decade I guarantee it. I still have no idea what the hell fred was thinking trying to make a vn and a manga and all the side projects he keeps getting distracted by.
DeleteHehe. Ever Heard of Half Life 3
DeleteValve didnt accept money from the public for Half Life 3 and they have never said they were releasing it. Its not even a similar situation. HL3 is just a sequel that will never happen.
DeleteHonestly it's like this he will update when he can and wants too if you can't find anything to do in that time your just driving yourself stir crazy for nothing
DeleteAfter three crowd funded project it safe to say its enough to finish this game. Work as hard as you can get it out soon as possible. I hope to see more games from you in the future.
ReplyDeletePrognosis: Overdosed on cocaine after a run-in with a sudden windfall.
ReplyDeleteHahaha seconded.
DeleteNot really sure where your getting your info from :|
DeleteYeah cuz that totally happened...
Delete>.>
-Hand ro forehead, slowly shakes head and walks away-
You guys keep saying he has trouble with deadlines ?
ReplyDeleteThis is just fashionably late.
AD2 is still up there and plenty replayable even after like 3 years.
Dammit now I gotta play it again
DeleteWhen is the release date for this game?
ReplyDeletedoes anyone have any news?
ReplyDeletei really wanted to play this game
