Worked on replacement barricades. The barricades in the trailer make no sense in the way they're formed, so I'm working on new ones in a 3d program. Basically I'm correcting a logic mistake (plot hole) that probably nobody will care about.

Alright, so I feel that it needs to be explained why these barricades look like this, juuuust in case anybody wants to question their form. If you don't really care and find them aesthetically pleasing, just move along.
Mini IFAQ (infrequently asked questions):
Q: How did the survivors make that kind of barricade?
A: They 3D printed it from raw junk materials. How they get the material is a separate issue, but they basically have a matter condenser that turns discarded specific junk into barricades. Both the printer and the condenser take energy to use, and energy is a strained resource in AD3.
Q: If you could form a barricade like that, wouldn't you want to just line the whole battle area with printed spikes and have the enemies step on those?
A: Yes, but that consumes too much energy and resources. Creating a spike hard enough to puncture someone requires too much from the matter condenser as well.
Q: What do you mean too much energy? I thought they were on a high tech space ship!
A: Yes, but the station's main reactor was taken offline when the aliens invaded. In this future, portable battery technology does not get more powerful, it's the other way around: portable technology is just more power efficient. When battery size is not an issue, people use the station's main reactor, but that's down.
Q: Okay, so then why don't the survivors just print a bunch of hollow large beach balls and fill the room with that?
A: The survivors did experiment with this tactic, but the enemy responded by bringing out more creatures with blunt type attacks to counter it.
Q: So you're telling me that the survivors never use ANY type of traps?
A: They do. The survivors have in-game power abilities that represent these traps. That would mean in the story, you'd probably see a bunch of thumb tacs on the floor, but making these traps into abilities is more fun for the player, so you can consider it a gameplay concession type plothole. They never print any of these traps because the most efficient usage for the printing has been barricades to hide behind, and other non-combat related supplies.
Q: Why do the barricades look like that? Wouldn't you want a pure wall with a tiny slit to shoot through?
A: Yes, but you need energy and materials. The primary concern for the latest barricade design is material consumption. It's somewhat difficult to see at this angle, but the barricade is shaped like a portcullis in order to block enemy attacks and shoot through at the same time, all the while consuming the least amount of res. The barricades are also bent at an angle to make it difficult for enemies to attack the shooter behind it.
Q: What about all that plating on the floor? Why don't they just use that?
A: The floor deck is not durable. AD3 takes place on a commercial vessel, so they're made out of cheap materials.
Q: If they're cheap, then what happens if you shoot through the station?
A: The inner plating may be cheap, but the outer plating is more thoroughly protected from those kinds of attacks. In fact, every ISS security officer is issued a stun gun in order to prevent harm to the station's inner components.
Q: Why don't they use the outer plating then?
A: Because the outer plating is the only thing separating them from the vacuum. The outer plating would be a great form of defensive barricade, but actually collecting the plating is unfeasible without the proper space worthy equipment.
Q: I have more infrequently asked questions!
A: Yep, and by answering these questions I'm just opening more questions, so I'll just end this mini ifaq by saying that you can find the rest of the answers in the bigger IFAQ (10k word count), and this IFAQ will be available for viewing when AD3 comes out.

2a21- Reconsidering new barricade design. While the portcullis design style makes sense in terms of story, the problem is that it adds a lot of production time for a very nitpicky detail. The first problem is that Beatrice's gun does not properly align with the barricade. This is due to the battle mode's fake 3d perspective. The characters are shown at a side angle, but if this a real camera, the characters closer to the camera would have more of the tops of their heads showing. This is unfeasible to represent because I'm certainly not going to redraw every character 3 more times to show 4 different angles accurately. The second problem is that the window of the barricades creates a lot of hassle in terms of layering. Let's say if you shoot a bullet through the middle window (in the above picture, imagine Olga shooting), that bullet would have to be under the layer of the front part of her barricade, but over the back part of her barricade, meaning each barricade needs two layers. Since survivors can shoot at an angle, we also have to consider the bullet's trajectory when flying through other survivor barricades.  When all of these problems are taken into consideration it'll result in either a jarring visual effect, or a lot of work to ensure that the bullets travel under and over separate layers correctly.

So the current plan is to scrap all the barricade work I did between 10pm and 1am.

I shouldn't be putting too much work into the expansion when I should be working on the original game, but it's a good idea to plan ahead just in case the original game needs to change for it. For a while, I really wanted to make it somewhat of a standalone expansion where say, instead of controlling the Captain, you're controlling a female commander on the other side of the station. The problem is that I can't find a simple solution to keep the workload of the expansion's game design to a minimum. There's always the simple solution where the player simply replaces 4 original characters with 4 new characters, but I may be able to come up with a better idea.

I spent the day animating. LarissaH2 looks great. Animating porn can be "difficult". Sometimes I spend an extra hour going back over an animation because I think she should blink here, or we need to put this cum string here, and everything should be goshdarned perfect... and I have to do this all with a raging hardon. If any of you pervs are art commissioners out there, my advice to you is that you find an artist that has similar fetishes or tastes. If you share similar tastes, the artist might end up drawing extra things you didn't ask for, but enjoy. There is definitely a problem where some artists just aren't as passionate about their work and all they care about is money.

Someone did something bad to me recently. I can't be specific about it because it could bite me in the ass later. I am pretty sure this person is reading this, and don't worry, this person is not a fan. I'd like to leave a message for this person.

To whom it may concern,
I know what you did (this Summer!). I've been a good fellow to you, and for you to stab me in the back...for you to conjure up a reason to make me your enemy... It's not right. You and I make our own morals. One thing I had hoped to impart to you was to be good to strangers. I know, I haven't been perfect myself, far from it, but I've changed since then. I know things aren't going exactly peachy for you, and I want to hope that you did this as a last resort, but you can't let hardships corrupt you. Things are tough for me too, but I'm not gonna stab you back. Damn. And to think that I wanted to be friends with you again! It's not even the stab that hurt me... it's the cold realization that we could never be good friends again. That's something I hoped for, for so long.

I had to stop it. I didn't have a choice. It's out of my control now. Be careful.

Robin Williams is dead. He was in the first movie I ever saw in a theater, Aladdin. He was great in Birdcage. He died by suicide. IMO, he probably had a legitimate reason for suicide. Y'know how I rate my efficiency every hour, I also rate my life from time to time. It's a fun question to ask other people too, say "How would you rate the previous year of your life, out of 10?"...

So for a while, it used to be a 5, even though I was pretty depressed. I couldn't justify bringing it any lower than 5 because of the material things I had to be thankful for. I mean, take a look, some third world countries would really really suck to live in. How could I be more depressed than a 5 if I've never faced such third world hardships? But people can have legitimate depression that doesn't stem from one's health or financial situation. When I realized that I was so depressed that I constantly considered suicide daily, that's when I knew my life was a 2. I've never been at risk for suicide. As much as I wanted to do it, my resolve to finish this game has always been higher.

I don't know what Mr. Williams's source of depression was, but I'm willing to bet it was a justified suicide. I'll define a justified suicide as having met these requirements:
1. The suicidee's belief system or lack thereof allows it.
2. The suicidee must be sane.
3. The suicidee must believe that the combined average of the rest of their life would equate to a rating of under 5. If a rating of 5 means that you're neither happy or unhappy, than anything under 5 is at least somewhat unhappy, and that's not really a life worth living if it persists. I'm allowing for this suicidee to simply believe what the future holds rather than know, which is kind of shaky. I mean, what if a POW was being tortured every day, but he had a small chance of being rescued very soon? You could argue that the POW was not justified, that he should have held on a little longer, and we could attribute his failure to his willpower. Perhaps his willpower was not as strong as his fellow theoretical POW that did manage to survive, but to me, it's enough to say that suicide was a reasonable option, ergo justified.

Seeya Mr. Williams. I hope you had a good run...and I really hope this wasn't just some sort of drug related death, hehe.

Yesterday, went out on a date with cougar. It went well. We didn't share any common interests at all, but conversation was flowing well regardless, which is amazing. Shouldn't say anymore on such a public medium. My insomnia was temporarily cured, hehe, perhaps I have my date to thank for that.

There are a few exciting and funny things that happen in her story, but she's just a cook. Despite the lack of events, I think people will like her story a lot.

Woke up with 3h of sleep. Tried to get back to sleep but failed, so insomniac extreme difficulty today. Got a bit of exercise, played some games, took half the day off.

For over a year, I’ve been brainstorming on a good solution to balance the returning threesome 
mechanic from AD2S. AD2S had it so that players would finish the storylines of five characters on 5 different runs, and then a threesome run on a 6th run. 

With AD3, some things changed that made it difficult to reintroduce AD2S's system without modification. Some storylines depended not only on the player's distribution of BASICS points, but surviving to a certain time as well. The amount of solo storylines increased to 9, but there's only four threesomes. A new system was needed to ensure that the game's difficulty was balanced so that the average player would not finish the game in only five runs (with 4 threesomes and 1 solo storyline). 

For the longest time, the line of thinking was the same- 9 solo runs of varying difficulty, and 4 threesome runs of extreme difficulty. I spent hours of combined toilet and driving time, hours which were spread out over a year, and came up with different solutions that never satisfied me.

Just now, I finally came up with a good and surprisingly simple solution: Balance the game so that a threesome run is now just as difficult as a solo run. By giving the player buffs when he attempts to do a threesome run, the threesome run's difficulty can be adjusted independently of the solo runs. Some solo runs may be even harder than threesome runs. With this new solution, we're able to ensure that most players spend a minimum of 13 runs in order to see all of the game's storyline content. Eureka!

Character Ring. A player receives a character ring the first time he beats a character story. The ring gives the player the ability to automatically succeed on all BASICS checks with that character, that character’s girlNameTotalPoints is always at maximum, and also allows the player to ignore the location restriction of a character's story. The ring is a permanent item. You can only equip one character ring during a run. A ring remains equipped until the player starts a new run. The only way to unequip a ring is by starting a new run (to stop players from abusing the rings). 

This solution allows a solo character story to retain near maximum difficulty. AD3's unique story situation necessitates that the characters all have very difficult stories rather than AD2's direction of having single character runs as being easy, while threesomes are difficult. The only difference in difficulty is that the player must now simply date and auto-succeed with the character of which he has a ring of. There are some cons however; explaining to the player how the ring works is not going to be pretty. I'd probably summarize the item's description as "This ring remains equipped for one run, and lets you auto-succeed on checks with the given character."... And then we have a lack of in-universe explanation as to where this ring comes from, or even how it magically teleports the crew for the duration of one story mission, which I'm prepared to dismissively wave.

7p7- Took a half an hour break. Worked on Beatrice's portrait again. #1 is from a long time ago. I revisited it a few months back, and then now I tried editing it again. It's weird because I can't seem to get the eyes to look right, I've tried adjusting the upper eyelid, the lower eyelid, the pupils... I'm just at a loss on this one. It looks acceptable now though.

9p9- Exercise/Played Crypt of the Necrodancer. It's a rogue-like dungeon crawler where you attack and move alongside a beat. I've been using a dance dance revolution pad to play the game, which makes it time efficient because I can play video games and exercise at the same time. It's not exactly going to the gym and beefing up, but it sure gets the blood flowing.
