Hentaicook at Anime Expo 2011

I'm going to Anime Expo 2011 to advertise Aching Dreams 2. I was thinking about putting out an Aching Dreams 2 offline cd that people could physically purchase, but as I'm satisfied with how online sales are going, I honestly can't afford to put it out on a disc. It was a mistake to offer it in the first place. I apologize and I'll make it clear: Aching Dreams and its sequels will only be sold on a digital format.

So Anime Expo is in Los Angeles, California. It's a business trip. Kinda. I'll be promoting AD2 by handing out flyers and at the same time selling art prints of popular characters (not AD), like this picture of Lightning from Final Fantasy XIII. I'll be in the Artist Alley, where it's a bunch of people that sell art prints, or stupid cute things like stickers or anime pins. I'll be drawing up about 10 different art pieces to sell, they go for about $5 paper size, 10$ for small poster size. I'll try not to make them too embarrassing because I do have to run to office depot to print these out. As much as everyone here loves Taiyo, do any of you really want to hang her up on your wall? It's a real question, respond please.

But while making zombie butt kicking drawings is really fun, the main reason I'm there is to promote AD2S by passing out flyers. I'm testing the waters, and really wondering if anime conventions are a good place to find customers for this game.

So it's about a month's diversion until I get back on track with finishing up on AD2S and AD3. I know right now's a lot of bitching, "Where's the update!?", but I don't want to rush things. I'd rather take my time and release something that we're all happy with. Everyone was pretty happy with SanzaXFrei, so I'm hoping to get a similar result with Catherine+CarmenXJeanne. Anyone coming to Anime Expo?

  1. I tend not to hang my posters. Instead I keep them nicely filed away where they are protected from the elements.

It will be difficult coming to the expo since it's not even on the same continent.

    Have a great time there!
    Get yourself recharged and stuff!

  2. I think in Japan people are more open about ero games... Over here I find it hard to believe that anyone will admit they like hentai in public. How much does it cost to have a booth at the Anime Expo? $1000?

  3. Unfortunately i can't come at Anime Expo since i don't live in the US of A ,i wished i could so i could get a poster or two ( and to answer your question yes i would hang Taiyo on my wall for all to see ).
I'd rather you take your time with the update too and not start downing energy drinks as you did before (we need you alive and working).

I hope the promote goes well.

  4. An artist alley booth is really cheap: $150. An exhibit booth is really expensive.

  5. Good luck! Have you ever considered making a profile and advertising on Hentai Foundry?

  9. Let's just say I learned a lot.

The biggest thing I learned was that girls like hentai games, and there isn't a presence for this, especially not for Flash.

Office depot kinda screwed up my prints and made them way too dark. I need to make more prints over all. I also need to decide whether I'm going full hentai next year on my prints or not...

I had a flyer co print out about 1000 of these, and I only got like...150 out. So yeah, kind of a failure. But it was a good learning experience.

  10. Oh yeah, about the updates. I'll really work on it this month, things are pretty clear for me right now. If I'm not satisfied with it, I'll delay it though.

  15. First Mate Lass: Captain, we're losing hull integrity! The Fanboys Imperium are taking potshots at us like fish in water!

Captain H-Cook: Steady there, Lass. I have a brilliant and cunning plan to get us out of this situation, and turn things around.

First Mate Lass: I knew you wouldn't let us down, Captain!

Captain H-Cook: First, open all video broadcast channels, quality setting at High, and sound settings at THXXX!

    First Mate Lass: Aye, aye!

Captain H-Cook: The next and most important step, Lass!

    First Mate Lass: Yes?

Captain H-Cook: I need you to stand over here, and bend over on this control panel...

  16. Hey HC,

Just wonderin' if we can expect any more voiceover updates for AD2 and if so, which scenes?

I really got my fingers crossed that we get some voice work soon, one of the main reasons I bought the game.

    Keep it up!

  24. Just ask an approximate date or such data as you progress or if the project is abandoned or not. Is it too much to ask?
