One a completely unrelated note, have you ever played Way, by Ponidog? For a number of reasons, it seems that it's a production much closer to your games that a lot of other games, professional or not, are.
Well, I can see a connection in how it's a self-published game made by an artist(who uses his own art), and in how he creates different interactive scenarios based on stats, player ability, and luck. Player interaction makes it rewarding to arrive to the scenes, and often even when you can't win a certain situation, you're building up 'stats' that are helping you towards your ends. I guess this is more in the full game, however. Also, there are some moral and gameplay choices in the full game that somewhat resemble your reasoning in the past few days.

I just tried it. It's pretty damn weird and I don't really see a connection. I tried the demo. I don't really get it. (shrugs)
